This was my lowest of lows. In all my years of cycling I have never feared for my life on a bike more. The video captures my state of mind at the moment in time. Lucky the next morning the good people of the Baptist church I slept behind arrived the next morning and took me in. What a trip these folks could not be nicer to the oddball random white dude that showed up out of nowhere. They took me in fed me twice. Then in the pouring rain got me off the death trap of a road and gave me and my bike a lift down to the next town... Quantico. Praise the Lord.

The Ride part 3, Stuck in Baltimore!
Yep after two great days of riding out of Pennsylvania into Maryland via the York County Heritage trail mechanical breakdowns including my 2nd & 3rd flats, no shit and a bent rim have had me stuck in Baltimore for 4 days Uggggg run on sentence.... SORRY. My stay in Baltimore has been a run on too. My bent rear rim has turned me into a walker. Had to walk it to the local bike shop to get it mended.
Spent last 3 nights in a Ramada Inn being to clean and rested. O ya and drinking to much. Nothing better to do. At least I can watch cable, by the was fuk Trump. I’ve seen way to much of Baltimore in way greater detail than I would care for. Lots of feral cats, people, prostitutes shady folks ect... Nice weather, so I’m out and about during daylight yet hide in my hotel at night. I could have walked to DC by now, my next destination. If my bike keeps letting me down, this may turn into a 3,000 mile walk. I was close to throwing it off the 2nd floor balcony of my hotel room. Anyway I’ve gotten my rim back and on the bike. Seems tomorrow I’ll be back on the road. This is my second hotel as the first day I rode into Baltimore after my 2nd flat on the trail. I was forced to take shelter in a different Ramada about 20 miles from here. I fixed the flat and tried to straighten the rim as best as I could.. ends up it lasted about 17 miles before flat #3 hit. I desperately had to book this room and find a bike shop. Real expensive couple of days. I’m technically homeless however not destitute. Having money in the bank makes all the difference in the world. Keeps me from being one of the feral ones. SO FAR! I’m one flat away from having my name included in a news headline that includes the phrase “lone gunman”.

The Ride part 2, We Will Not Mention the Wind
We will not mentioned the wind. We will not mention the fuk’n wind. As I have been plowing west, through, Pennsylvania day after day the WIND, has been my constant enemy. We will not mention the wind. Having spent years, really decades on a bike, I know the effort it takes to ride into the wind. We will not mention the wind. Granted on light weight go as fast as you can kind of a bike, has been my area of comfort. Not the super heavy over laden monstrous bike that I’m riding today. We will not mention the wind. Not a breeze relentless non stop howling winds. We will not mention the wind, the mother fuk’n WIND.
Finally crossed the Susquehanna.Going Maybe half the distance, I figured I thought I would have covered. We will not mention the fucking WIND! The. Fucking WIND!

The Ride! How Long, Where To ? Up In the Air
One week tow days in to my endless ride, so, so, so tired. #bikeride
What the fuck was I thinking? Each day more times than a few time I revolve from this is great to WTF. I’ll try doing this blog as I go. I need to figure this out as I go. Just like navigating, stuff I need, amount of stuff I can carry eat. Enough for now time to drink. Was in the nineties last two days, with major head winds & climbs. My bike plus stuff is way heavy. Already have thrown out stuff. Brand new hammock and clip less pedals and the shoes that went with them. Cost about $200. Rain today sitting it. Out in cheap hotel. Need the rest. Going way slower than I anticipated. Need to get navigation down to a science. Wasting way to much time playing with my navigator apps. Setting up camp and breaking it down costs me time too.
Day 1 had not gone 10 miles when I came across a small plane crash In Manville NJ. Right on my route. OMINOUS START! You betcha... O by the was the guy lived only miner injuries.
My 1st delay, at 9.8 mile mark. Of course I daddled about 45 minutes. I had to, could not checkout the situation. Could not help myself.

up daily mileage count if I’m going to out pedal winter. No more northeastern winters for little Stevie Crawley.
Traffic has also been an issue. Much more, actually mind boggling in Lancaster PA. The Amish & Mennonite in their buggies risk life and limb on the main arteries. Should have taken pictures, but was so hot tired fighting the headwinds making climbs and the heat and humidity. I never got round to it.
I realize now my bike and set up are way to heavy, but fuck it it’s what I’m working with. Live and learn. Pic day 1. Mile 0
